There is without question a yearning in the hearts of many Christians to have a closer, more intimate walk with God. Such a relationship with Him is vitally important if one is going to have a Christianity that really does work. Fortunately one of the laws of God is the law of cause and effect. If we expect our lives to be affected in a beneficial, positive way, then we must initiate the action which will be appropriate to cause such an effect.
There is also a similar, yet different law of God referred to as the law of sowing and reaping. One of the primary characteristics of this law is that whatever is sown will be reaped. This is not just referring to planting seeds in the ground to produce crops on a farm, it's also referring to what we do with our lives. If we sow or do good things in our life then we may expect to reap or experience good things as a result.
Consequently as we embark on this effort to reap a Christianity That Works, we must expect to do some sowing before we can hope to reap the result. Fortunately for us, another aspect of the law of sowing and reaping is that not only do we reap what we sow, but we also reap more than we sow.
Therefore, we should be very encouraged to know that even though there must be an effort made by us to bring about a Christianity That Works, we will get more out of the effort than we put into it. In other words God multiplies our efforts many times so that we reap far more than we sow.
Let me give you a simple illustration. If I told you I would give you five dollars for every dollar you gave me you would be glad to give me all the dollars you could come up with because what you put into the transaction would be multiplied five times in your favor. This is similar to what God does for us when we invest our lives into having a closer, more intimate walk with Him.
So at the outset of this experience we are going to have with God it should excite us greatly to know that for every effort we contribute to achieve our goal, God is going to in our favor multiply many times over the benefits we will reap from our effort.
So hang onto your hat and get ready for the most incredible ride of your life as we travel down the road toward a Christianity That Works!
We will continue our journey in our next post so keep coming back for more!
